Qualifications and Experience
For the last 8 years I’ve been obsessed. Not only with my own transformation, but the science behind it all. How the human body will adapt to any stress it’s put under so it can become more resilient. And this is what I love. Understanding how we can exploit our bodies’ natural mechanisms through exercise and nutrition, to achieve the results we want.
This passion and hunger to learn the science, lead me to get a personal training qualification and then extend my studies to university. I achieved a first-class degree in Strength and Conditioning cementing my knowledge that I gained from the previous 8 years of being my own coach. I’ve seen and experienced what does and doesn’t work, firsthand; always keeping up to date with the recent scientific literature to greatly improve my coaching practices and extend my plethora of knowledge.
Outside of studying and coaching myself, I’ve coached strength and conditioning to youth athletes in the London Irish Rugby Academy and in secondary schools. My most recent endeavor sees me starting my own Personal Training & Performance coaching business where I have witnessed some incredible client transformations through my coaching.
MY VALUES
Discipline is the act of performing tasks, regardless of motivation, in pursuit of an end goal. To be disciplined means you need to be consistent. Sometimes ignoring short term comforts with the long-term goal in mind. When you have any kind of exercise and nutrition related goal, whether it’s to lose fat, build muscle, get stronger or even have more energy; consistency is the determining factor in whether you reach your goal or not.
Why? Say you lose 5kg of fat or build 5kg of muscle. Just because you reach your goal, doesn’t mean you stop doing the things that got you there. You must keep going to maintain the progress made. The body will regress if you stop. That’s why its important to build the good habits into your lifestyle so you can keep them up for the longer term.
As a Performance coach I help people perform. I make sure clients perform their very best in the gym, in sports and in daily life through coherent exercise and nutrition coaching. I develop consistency in the people I work with through education and always explaining the why behind everything you do. How it can benefit you. The good and the bad choices and how science backs up my rationales.
Having the strength and the energy to accomplish whatever the day throws at you is priceless. To have this energy and drive, we must look after our bodies. It’s the only one we get! Unlike a car, when it performs poorly or doesn’t work, we can’t just replace it. Our body is with us until we die so it imperative that we do everything we can to look after ourselves. Physically and mentally.
Our bodies are our vehicle and I like to see the gym as a place where we take our vehicle to repair and upgrade. Like a mechanics garage for your car. Exercising triggers many biological pathways to stimulate growth and repair. Performing a difficult task, lifting a heavy weight, forces the body to adapt and improve upon itself so the difficult task isn’t as challenging next time. This is how we have evolved. With the latest science, we now know how to exploit this. So why would you not want to seek the best version of yourself?
Exercise is one side of the story. The saying: ‘you can’t outwork a bad diet’ is very true. For your body to be strong, grow, repair, fight off illness and perform! You must fuel yourself with the correct nutrients to support this. A petrol car will not work if you fill it with diesel. You will not be able to perform optimally in anything you do if you are fueling yourself with excess amounts of junk food and sugar.
Feeling good and getting the most out of the exercise you do means you need to consume the right balance of Proteins, Fats and Carbohydrates. Making sure you do not starve yourself; you drink enough water and eat the right foods to provide your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs. It’s all about having more nutritional awareness. Knowing what you are putting in your body and the impact it will have on your goals will allow you to make better choices. This is what I try to teach people. The why behind everything.
Finding the best diet and training structure that reaches your goals and fits into your lifestyle is what I aim to do with my coaching. Taking control of your diet and exercise habits is the greatest form of self-care. It will literally keep you alive for longer!

“I started working with Joe just over a year ago. He has helped me develop as a high level athlete tremendously. I have exceeded all my running goals and he has helped me take over 2 minutes off my 5km time. We have weekly catch up calls and he responds to any queries throughout the week. Joe tailors my S&C to my specific goals and race plans.
He is both friendly and professional and can always answer my questions with scientific proof! He goes above and beyond by recommending interesting articles, Instagram pages to follow and any nutritional advice I request, i couldn't recommend Joe and his services more and I will continue to work with him long into the future!.”

“Joe has been personally helping me over 1 year now. With a unique training plan that can be modified every week and if I’m not enjoying the particular exercise. Joe is always on hand with his first class degree knowledge to replace the exercise and always guide me along the way. He’s helped with my squat massively showing me a technique that I should’ve done, my bench has gone up 20kg in 3 weeks. And also I suffered from a lower back injury from poor deadlift technique , he was there straight away to prescribe me with the exercises I need and now I’m back to deadlifting, progressive overload is being implemented weekly.”

At the age of 16, I embarked on my fitness journey by joining my first gym. Over the past 8 years, my passion has grown exponentially. I've not only been dedicated to my personal transformation but also delved deep into the scientific aspects of it all. It fascinates me how the human body responds and adapts to various stresses, becoming more resilient in the process. This is the essence of my enthusiasm—comprehending how we can leverage our bodies' natural mechanisms through a combination of exercise and nutrition to attain the desired outcomes.
-
My core values are anchored in discipline—an unwavering commitment to undertaking tasks, irrespective of immediate motivation, all in the relentless pursuit of a defined end goal. Discipline, in my view, is synonymous with consistency, often requiring the deliberate dismissal of short-term comforts in favor of the overarching, long-term objective. This principle holds particularly true in the realm of exercise and nutrition goals, be it shedding fat, building muscle, gaining strength, or boosting energy levels. I firmly believe that consistency serves as the decisive factor in realising and surpassing your objectives.
